About SCAA

During the Fall of 1999, Natalie Gutierrez, Graciela Castillo, and Maribel Jimenez met to discuss the creation of an alumnae association within the state of California. They saw the need of creating an appropriate venue for alumna sister to continue their participation within the sisterhood of Sigma Lambda Gamma. They strongly felt that the establishment of an alumnae association would give alumna sisters the appropriate setting to continue their participation as well as create a venue of support for all undergraduate sisters. As alumnae sisters, they sought to continue promoting the success of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority by reaching out to both undergraduate sisters and the surrounding communities.

In the Spring of 2000, Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority declared Emely Casteneda, Graciela Castillo, Asucena Cervantez, Hilda Lizet Garcia, Marcela Guerrero, Natalie Gutierrez, Joella Hopkins, Minerette Jasso, Maribel Jimenez, Staci Lawrence, Susy Lima, Wendy Padilla, and Jina Velazquez, founders of the Southern California About Southern California Alumnae Association.
